HERO GAME PLANI accelerate my farm and jump on a target I can quickly eliminate after accounting for its defenses.
The moment she finds her prey, Phantom Assassin strikes. Instantly closing in on a target, she effortlessly dodges attacks as she relentlessly cuts away at her foe. Without warning, any one of her attacks could prove suddenly and brutally fatal.
My recommendation is a starting point. We choose another position together with the team and for its needs.
I need protected farm, my item window and damage on important targets.
This is an editorial starting plan based on hero mechanics. It is not presented as a match I have already tested or a popularity ranking.
Here is my initial plan: I do my role's job first, then choose the items the team needs. I adapt the order and expensive purchases to the opponent.

Provide attack speed and switchable attributes for farming and managing my resources.

Speeds up wave and jungle clearing for a melee hero; an investment in farm before expensive fighting items.

Reduces the attacked target’s armor, increasing physical focus fire and pressure on objectives.

Provides a window for my actions against eligible magical damage and disables. I check effects that pierce the protection.

Adds a chance to stun on attack, making it harder for the target to get out of melee range.

I do not assign one ‘correct’ minute to every purchase. I look at my gold, the next fight and the problem: am I missing mana, target access, control or protection? If an expensive slot will arrive too late, I get a useful answer earlier.

Teleports to a unit, friendly or enemy, and grants bonus attack speed while attacking if it's an enemy unit.

The hero focuses on herself, allowing her to evade attacks.
Phantom Assassin focuses inward, increasing her ability to evade enemy attacks. Stacks diminishingly with other sources of Evasion.

The hero sharpens her combat skills, giving each attack a chance to enter a state of deadly focus. In that state, the next attack is guaranteed to deal critical damage and consumes the focus.
Phantom Assassin refines her combat abilities, acquiring a chance of gaining Deadly Focus with each attack. When attacking with Deadly Focus, Phantom Assassin will consume the buff and guarantee a critical hit. Stifling Dagger has a bonus chance to cause Deadly Focus.
These abilities are not necessarily available at the same time. I check the condition beside the name: innate ability, another form or an Aghanim purchase.

Phantom Assassin blurs her body, disjointing incoming projectiles, increasing her movement speed, causing her to be impossible to see until she comes near enemy heroes or towers.

Reduces cooldown by 10 sec. When the owner scores a kill, the remaining cooldowns of all her abilities are reduced by 60% of their maximum values.

Phantom Assassin releases sharp blades around her, dealing a percentage of each victim's max health on impact and applying Break.
