Battery Assault
Discharges high-powered shrapnel at random nearby enemy units, dealing minor magical damage and ministun.
Abilities, roles and builds with an explanation for every purchase.

HERO GAME PLANI dive an isolated target and create space for the team with Hookshot and Power Cogs.
Launching himself into enemies with his grappling hookshot, Clockwerk isolates targets and blasts them apart with disorienting shrapnel. As he scouts the battlefield with his handy flares, he never has trouble finding targets to send himself toward.
My recommendation is a starting point. We choose another position together with the team and for its needs.
I contribute through laning, control and movement. I adapt the expensive core route to my budget.
My resource is the team's space: I hold the lane and build for initiation or team protection.
This is an editorial starting plan based on hero mechanics. It is not presented as a match I have already tested or a popularity ranking.
Here is my initial plan: I do my role's job first, then choose the items the team needs. I adapt the order and expensive purchases to the opponent.

Provide speed and regeneration between engagements, fitting a support’s budget.

Adds inexpensive healing or damage after participating in a kill and opens the build path to Vessel.

Makes enemy focus fire more costly by returning damage when the opponent is forced to keep attacking.

Moves me or an ally out of danger; direction depends on the target's facing.

Unlocks or upgrades Overclocking. The exact effects are shown below in the abilities section.

I do not assign one ‘correct’ minute to every purchase. I look at my gold, the next fight and the problem: am I missing mana, target access, control or protection? If an expensive slot will arrive too late, I get a useful answer earlier.

Creates a ring of powered cogs around the hero, trapping all nearby units. Cogs knock back enemies who touch them from the outside, burning mana and dealing base damage plus damage equal to 50% of the mana burned.
Creates a ring of powered cogs around the hero, trapping all nearby units. Cogs knock back enemies who touch them from the outside, burning mana and dealing base damage plus damage equal to 50% of the mana burned. Cogs deactivate after triggering. Several enemy attacks destroy a cog, while the owner’s attack pushes it up to 850/900/950/1000 away. The owner can walk freely through the cogs, but they stop working while he does so.

Fires a global range flare that explodes over a given area. Upon impact, enemies in the area take damage and are briefly slowed. Rocket flare provides vision over the impact area for 6 seconds.

Fires a fast-moving grappling hook in the selected direction. If it hits a unit, the ability’s owner is pulled toward it, stunning and damaging all enemies within a radius of 175 around the target.
Fires a grappling device rapidly at the target location. If the hook hits a unit, Clockwerk launches himself into the target, stunning and dealing damage to everyone in a 175 radius around the hit target. Any enemies Clockwerk collides with along the way are damaged and stunned.
These abilities are not necessarily available at the same time. I check the condition beside the name: innate ability, another form or an Aghanim purchase.

Overloads the hero’s abilities: — Battery Assault affects a larger radius and hits every enemy within it; — Power Cogs creates cogs in a larger radius and grants the owner armor while near them; — Rocket Flare deals more…
Supercharges the hero's abilities: Battery Assault has a larger radius and affects every enemy within it; Power Cogs form a larger ring and grant the owner armor while nearby; Rocket Flare deals more damage, grants more vision, slows for longer and fires extra rockets on either side of its target; Hookshot stuns for longer and in a larger radius; Jetpack grants more speed. When the effect ends, the owner's movement and attack speed are greatly reduced.

Clockwerk activates a jetpack, gaining flying movement, flying vision, and bonus movement speed. Clockwerk has a severely-limited turn rate during this time and cannot attack. Jetpack can be toggled on and off for the duration of the buff.
