PhoenixHERO GAME PLAN

What I want to do in the game

I heal and deal damage with Sun Ray, and place Supernova under allied disables and protection.

Diving into battle, Phoenix damages enemies and heals allies with a solar ray. At the right moment, it can become a star that burns nearby enemies, then erupts in a stunning explosion and returns at full strength.

01 / ROLE IN THE TEAM

A pick is not a plan yet.

My recommendation is a starting point. We choose another position together with the team and for its needs.

04

Support · position 4

Initial recommendation

I contribute through laning, control and movement. I adapt the expensive core route to my budget.

03

Offlane · position 3

My resource is the team's space: I hold the lane and build for initiation or team protection.

MY VIEW OF THE HERO

Pick for a purpose. Play with a plan.

When I pick

I pick this for sustained teamfights with healing and area damage if allies can cover Supernova.

What I watch out for

Frequent enemy attacks and easy access to the egg make it vulnerable. The prettiest central location is not necessarily the safest.

What I do in combat

Before Supernova, I see who can hit the egg and what can stop them. I aim Sun Ray along a line useful for both allies and enemies.

What I check first

A strong Supernova depends on who can break the egg and how quickly, not just the number of enemies.

02 / ITEMS FOR A PURPOSE

What I buy and why.

This is an editorial starting plan based on hero mechanics. It is not presented as a match I have already tested or a popularity ranking.

Support · position 4

My starting plan

Here is my initial plan: I do my role's job first, then choose the items the team needs. I adapt the order and expensive purchases to the opponent.

  1. 01 / First stepTranquil Boots

Provide speed and regeneration between engagements, fitting a support’s budget.

  2. 02 / FoundationSpirit Vessel

Improves focus fire against heroes who rely on healing and regeneration; you need charges and a chance to use it.

  3. 03 / FoundationGlimmer Cape

Adds a protective tool and hides the chosen ally; invisibility does not replace escaping detection.

  4. 04 / Next choiceShiva's Guard

Adds armor and pressure in an area, helping limit the enemy’s health restoration.

  5. 05 / Next choiceAghanim's Scepter

Unlocks or upgrades Supernova. The exact effects are shown below in the abilities section.

What I change for the situation 3 options
Force Staff ↗

Moves me or an ally out of danger; direction depends on the target's facing.

Aeon Disk ↗

Protects against sudden focus fire. I account for the cooldown and the fact that my damage is limited while it triggers.

Refresher Orb ↗

Lets you repeat your main power window. Before buying, I consider whether I will have enough mana for both casts.

I see the minute on the clock. And the situation too.

I do not assign one ‘correct’ minute to every purchase. I look at my gold, the next fight and the problem: am I missing mana, target access, control or protection? If an expensive slot will arrive too late, I get a useful answer earlier.

03 / HERO ABILITIES

Abilities. As in the game.

Original Valve icons and descriptions. Cooldowns and mana are shown by level from the data snapshot; talents and upgrades can change the values.

Ability

Icarus Dive

Phoenix dives forward in an arc with a fixed distance in the targeted direction, dealing damage over time and slowing the movement speed of any units it comes into contact with, and then orbiting back to its original position. If Phoenix casts Supernova, the dive ends.

These abilities are not necessarily available at the same time. I check the condition beside the name: innate ability, another form or an Aghanim purchase.
