Faceless VoidHERO GAME PLAN

What I want to do in the game

I accelerate my farm and look for a Chronosphere in which the team can actually deal damage.

Time is everything to Faceless Void. He speeds time to dash between locations, manipulates it to dodge attacks, stops it in a large area to devastate his foes, and given enough of it to gather resources, he can make himself unbelievably powerful.

01 / ROLE IN THE TEAM

A pick is not a plan yet.

My recommendation is a starting point. We choose another position together with the team and for its needs.

01

Carry · position 1

Initial recommendation

I need protected farm, my item window and damage on important targets.

MY VIEW OF THE HERO

Pick for a purpose. Play with a plan.

When I pick

I choose this if the team has damage it can deal to targets inside Chronosphere from outside its boundary.

What I watch out for

Allied melee heroes can be disabled by my own sphere. Reliable control before Time Walk changes the entry risk.

What I do in combat

Before Chronosphere, I see allied positions and the priority target. After successful control, the team should already be ready to hit, not just walking towards the fight.

What I check first

Chrono can lock out allies as well as enemies: I check who can attack from outside it.

02 / ITEMS FOR A PURPOSE

What I buy and why.

This is an editorial starting plan based on hero mechanics. It is not presented as a match I have already tested or a popularity ranking.

Carry · position 1

My starting plan

Here is my initial plan: I do my role's job first, then choose the items the team needs. I adapt the order and expensive purchases to the opponent.

  1. 01 / First stepPower Treads

Provide attack speed and switchable attributes for farming and managing my resources.

  2. 02 / FoundationMaelstrom

Speeds up creep clearing and adds attack damage against multiple targets.

  3. 03 / FoundationBlack King Bar

Provides a window for my actions against eligible magical damage and disables. I check effects that pierce the protection.

  4. 04 / Next choiceMjollnir

Upgrades Maelstrom for frequent attacks and adds a defensive electrical effect to the chosen target.

  5. 05 / Next choiceButterfly

Increases physical damage and protection against suitable attacks. I check whether the enemy has an answer to evasion.

What I change for the situation 3 options
Mask of Madness ↗

Speeds up attacks and farming, but needs a safe window: its active mode imposes restrictions on the hero.

Eye of Skadi ↗

Improves attributes and lets attacks keep a target under control, limiting suitable sources of its restoration.

Refresher Orb ↗

Lets you repeat your main power window. Before buying, I consider whether I will have enough mana for both casts.

I see the minute on the clock. And the situation too.

I do not assign one ‘correct’ minute to every purchase. I look at my gold, the next fight and the problem: am I missing mana, target access, control or protection? If an expensive slot will arrive too late, I get a useful answer earlier.

03 / HERO ABILITIES

Abilities. As in the game.

Details and upgrades

Faceless Void envelops nearby enemies with time dilating fields to slow cooldown progression of their abilities. Each enveloped enemy gains one Time Dilation stack when applied, and one stack per ability they have on cooldown. Each stack deals damage per second and slows movement and attack speed. The duration is paused while affected by Chronosphere.

Aghanim’s Shard

Increases slow per stack. Provides Faceless Void with stacks that increase his attack and movement speed. Amount of stacks is equal to the total amount of Time Dilation stacks applied to enemies at the moment of the cast and linearly fades out over the duration.

Ability

Time Lock

Adds the chance for an attack to lock an enemy unit in time while attacking it a second time.

Ability

Chronosphere

Creates a blister in spacetime, trapping all units caught in its sphere of influence and causes you to move very quickly inside it. Only Faceless Void and any units he controls are unaffected. Invisible enemies in the sphere will be revealed.

These abilities are not necessarily available at the same time. I check the condition beside the name: innate ability, another form or an Aghanim purchase.

Reverse Time Walk

This ability can be used within 1,5 sec. of Time Walk to return to the previous position. Returning does not affect the hero’s health or apply the Time Lock granted by Aghanim's Scepter to enemies.
