7.41f: Halberd is cheaper. Still buy with a plan
Meow, Rodya here. Halberd is down a hundred gold; Dragon Lance is up a hundred. I understand the urge to dash straight to the shop, but let’s work out what the item needs to do first. These are notes on the September 15 patch, not a new October update.

What is confirmed
- In 7.41f, Heaven’s Halberd costs 3300 gold instead of 3400, while Dragon Lance costs 2000 instead of 1900.
- Infused Raindrops’ mana regeneration has been reduced from 0.8 to 0.6 per second. Shiva’s Guard’s Arctic Blast damage has been reduced from 260 to 225.
- Treant’s Leech Seed now costs 35 mana; invisibility linger after leaving trees has been reduced from 2 seconds to 1.
- Valve’s accompanying announcement lists fixes for hiding inside the geometry near the upper Roshan pit, Big Game Hunter’s bonus gold and other issues. A bug fix and a balance change are different things.
A discount alone is no reason to buy
I would compare Halberd with other items by its job: whose attacks need stopping, and will I be able to use it during the fight? A lower price brings the purchase closer; it does not make the item compulsory.
Dragon Lance raises a different question: does the extra range already let you attack safely, or do you first need a way out of an initiation? Range feels good, but a support’s job does not end with buying damage.
Check how many actions your resources allow
I would consider Raindrops alongside their protection from magic damage. Less mana regeneration is a reason to recalculate whether you can afford the next trade, not to remove the item from every build.
On Treant, it is worth checking your route between the trees and your mana reserves again. Before stepping forward, know where you can retreat after casting. With Shiva’s, consider the entire set of effects and avoid calculating a kill using the wave’s old damage.
