I would carry Dust when invisibility lets an enemy escape after we have started focusing them. I use it near their expected route.

What the item does

01

Use: Reveal

For 12 seconds, creates an area with a radius of 1050 around the cast point that reveals invisible heroes and slows them by 20%. Deals 25 damage to invisible units revealed by using this item.

The effect remains on enemies for 8 seconds after they leave the area.

RUSLAN / IN-GAME DECISION

How I decide

«Dust is needed before a move against invisibility, not after it escapes.»

Ruslan UkrainskyiSpeaking through Rodya
01 Situation
An invisible enemy can break the focus already started and escape.
02 My decision
I carry the consumable beforehand and create a detection area along their likely route.
03 What I avoid
Remember detection only after the team has already lost the target.
02 / MY GUIDELINE

When I would buy it

Before going after invisible heroes, rather than after their first escape.

04 / HERO AND TASK

Which heroes I would try it on

Examples based on mechanics. The role, opponents and team plan determine the final choice.

05 / ANOTHER ANSWER

What to compare it with

Similar purposes do not make items interchangeable. I compare effect, price and timing.

Valve notes

  • Places a debuff on enemy units in the area that reveals them when they are invisible.

Game effects and recipes are a snapshot of official data. My guidelines are choices for a task, not a promise of the same build every match. Values for several stages, where present, are separated by ‘/’.
