Chaos KnightHERO GAME PLAN

What I want to do in the game

I catch an isolated target, close the gap and increase burst damage with illusions.

Chaos Knight is an army unto himself. Able to summon a cavalry of clones to demolish enemy defenses, should an enemy present itself, he can rift reality to pull him and his phantasms close enough to rain brutal cudgel blows upon their head.

01 / ROLE IN THE TEAM

A pick is not a plan yet.

My recommendation is a starting point. We choose another position together with the team and for its needs.

01

Carry · position 1

Initial recommendation

I need protected farm, my item window and damage on important targets.

MY VIEW OF THE HERO

Pick for a purpose. Play with a plan.

When I pick

This suits quick physical focus after closing distance and applying control. Illusions amplify a successful engagement specifically.

What I watch out for

AoE damage and a target escaping quickly can ruin Phantasm. If the illusions vanish immediately, the second attempt will already be weaker.

What I do in combat

Before creating the group, I choose the target and angle. After Reality Rift, I continue team focus rather than spreading illusions over several random heroes.

What I check first

Illusions need to survive area damage: I do not use them without considering the enemy’s AoE.

02 / ITEMS FOR A PURPOSE

What I buy and why.

This is an editorial starting plan based on hero mechanics. It is not presented as a match I have already tested or a popularity ranking.

Carry · position 1

My starting plan

Here is my initial plan: I do my role's job first, then choose the items the team needs. I adapt the order and expensive purchases to the opponent.

  1. 01 / First stepPower Treads

Provide attack speed and switchable attributes for farming and managing my resources.

  2. 02 / FoundationArmlet of Mordiggian

Improves physical fighting up close; requires attention to your health and activation timing.

  3. 03 / FoundationEcho Sabre

Strengthens a melee hero’s short engagement and helps secure the first attacks.

  4. 04 / Next choiceBlack King Bar

Provides a window for my actions against eligible magical damage and disables. I check effects that pierce the protection.

  5. 05 / Next choiceHeart of Tarrasque

Adds health and regeneration for prolonged play; I check the enemy’s answers to healing.

What I change for the situation 3 options
Harpoon ↗

Helps close the gap to a target and builds on items for close-range combat.

Assault Cuirass ↗

Gives the team armor and attack speed, helping it apply physical pressure to heroes and objectives.

Aghanim's Shard ↗

Unlocks or upgrades Chaos Bolt, Reality Rift. The exact effects are shown below in the abilities section.

I see the minute on the clock. And the situation too.

I do not assign one ‘correct’ minute to every purchase. I look at my gold, the next fight and the problem: am I missing mana, target access, control or protection? If an expensive slot will arrive too late, I get a useful answer earlier.

03 / HERO ABILITIES

These abilities are not necessarily available at the same time. I check the condition beside the name: innate ability, another form or an Aghanim purchase.
